How to use Nootropics for Anxiety

Anxiety. We all know it. We all have it. And we all hate it. Anxiety can be crippling. It can arise out of nowhere, and before you know it, overcome you and exert control over your normal, in control self.

Anxiety arises, chemically, for a number of reasons, but as it relates to using nootropics for anxiety, we’ll lay out the most prominent among them: Gabaergic dysfunction, or cortisol overload.

Both of these primary reasons for anxiety, nootropics can help alleviate by using targeted stacks, that are striking the right chords.

Gabaergic Dysfunction and Nootropics

Addressing gabaergic dysfunction, it’s important to break down exactly what that means. It can mean:

  1. A lack of the neurotransmitter GABA, in the releasable pool
  2. An interruption of GABA signaling
  3. A diminished response of GABA at the GABA A, and GABA B receptor sites.

Using Nootropics for anxiety, you’d want to try to isolate which of the above is the root of the issue. So let’s address them one by one.

A lack of GABA

Simply put, taking a compound called “Picamilon,” in 200-400MG doses, would allow you to determine if GABA quantity is the issue. Picamilon, a synthetic combination of Vitamin B3 and GABA, constructed to cross the blood brain barrier and affect brain GABA concentrations, will give the brain usable GABA.

If taking Picamilon in the above doses, for 7-14 days (or perhaps less) alleviates anxiety to a noticeable degree, your issue is likely a lack of GABA quantity. The solution? A phased dosing approach of Picamilon.

  1. 200-400MG Picamilon 5X weekly
  2. Cycling off completely for 2 days
  3. Running this strategy for a total of 2 months.
  4. Cycling off COMPLETELY to test.
  5. Observe if anxiety is noticeably, consistently reduced.
An Interruption of GABA signaling

Now this one is a bit hard to gauge. Interruptions of GABA signaling usually arise from some type of neuronal damage induced by pharmaceutical or recreational drugs. Your best bet in this situation, is throwing the kitchen sink at the matter with neurogenic compounds like Dihexa, the Cortex nootropic stack, or Lion’s mane mushroom.

A Diminished Response of GABA at GABA receptors

Besides a lack of GABA in the releasable pool, this is one of the most common reasons for GABAERGIC centered anxiety, and is usually induced, also, by GABAERGIC drugs (benzos, particularly). Benzos can modify the GABA A receptors in a way that prevents adequate binding of GABA to those sites, via down-regulation of the benzodiazepine sites at the GABA A receptor.

Addressing this requires “allosterically modifying” said benzo sites on GABA A, and one can achieve that with phased dosing of a compound called “Selank.” Selank will positively modulate the Benzo sites at GABA A in an up-regulatory way. The strategy for this should be:

  1. 1-2 sprays 100MCG per spray Nasal Selank, twice daily
  2. Run protocol for 5 days a week, 2 days off
  3. Run protocol for a total of 3 months.
  4. Remove protocol and observe
Other strategies for Nootropics for anxiety

If your situation isn’t that specific, or you’d like to take some alternate routes and keep it a bit simpler, the following compounds should help alleviate anxiety.

  1. Lemon Balm – 500MG, 5X weekly
  2. L-Theanine – 1G, 5X weekly
  3. Aniracetam may act as an anxiolytic for some people. I’d suggest trying it at 400-700MG first, to determine if it is helpful. Then repeat your ideal dose 3-4X weekly moving forward.
  4. L-Theanine + CBD. You’ll have to dial your CBD dose in, but I’d be taking 500MG L-Theanine + your ideal dose of CBD.
  5. 400MG Flush Niacin 5X weekly. Flush Niacin has demonstrated in my nootropics consulting work, profound usefulness in reducing background anxiety, likely due to the up-regulation of GABAergic signaling, through the maturation of GABA pregenators into actual GABAergic neurons.

These are the best options for targeting anxiety using Nootropics. It can be done, successfully, if the approach is measured, and the right compounds are in the mix. Be patient in your quest to determine which of the above reasons are at the root of your anxiety, and ensure you give yourself enough time on the above suggestions to gauge if they’re making a difference.

Other MISC options for using Nootropics for Anxiety
  1. Zembrin – Zembrin is a compound that acts as a Serotonin reuptake inhibitor at moderate intensity, and by improving synaptic serotonin concentrations, one can achieve the resolution of anxiety.
  2. Remotiv – Remotiv is a particular type of Saint John’s Wort, that shows greater efficacy over regular SJW supplements, at keeping both Serotonin and Dopamine concentrations elevated, by preventing their clearance from the synaptic space.
  3. Fasoracetam – Fasoracetam exerts a potential up-regulation of the GABA B receptors, which should alleviate anxiety. In my nootropics consulting work, I have seen Fasoracetam work wonders for people with mild anxiety. The dose varies, but usually a dose of 20-40MG, 5X weekly, cycling off on the weekends.
